A realistic campervan budget includes more than the advertised hire rate. Allow for fuel, campsites, optional insurance, one-way fees, tolls, ferries and paid attractions.
Longer hires can reduce the average daily rate, but large driving distances can increase fuel costs quickly. Compare routes as well as vehicles before booking.
Keep a contingency allowance for changes in weather, accommodation or transport connections.
